Dye Penetrant Spray, also referred to as a dye penetrant test kit, flaw and crack detector, liquid penetrate inspection (LPI), or penetrant testing (PT), is a highly effective non-destructive inspection (NDI) method. Widely used in various industries, it helps identify surface defects like hairline fractures, cracks, and flaws in castings, forgings, and welds. This method is invaluable for detecting potential fatigue cracks or flaws during maintenance, particularly in parts subjected to heavy stress. Invest in our top-quality dye penetrant spray for efficient and reliable surface defect detection.

Product Description:
Discover surface flaws and cracks with ease using the Spanjaard Flaw & Crack Detector System, also known as the dye penetrant testing kit. This comprehensive kit consists of three essential products, offering a fast, economical, and reliable non-destructive testing method for metal components.

The system meets DTD 929/MIL-I-25135E Group I and II standards, making it ideal for a wide range of applications, including weld inspection, routine maintenance, and incoming material checks.

Key Features:

  • Consists of three essential products: cleaner, penetrant, and developer.
  • Designed for use on all metals including Titanium, Nickel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminium.
  • Formulated with low halogen and sulphur content, meeting NDT tests of the Welding Institute.

Applications:
The Spanjaard Flaw & Crack Detector System is perfect for:

  • Detecting undetected defects in raw materials or finished components.
  • Checking for potential fatigue cracks or flaws during maintenance.
  • Inspecting welded areas for flawlessness.
  • Examining machined surfaces or parts of equipment used for pressing operations.
  • Detecting flaws or cracks in Aluminium die-castings.

Application Instructions:

  1. Cleaner (Pack 1): Remove surface contamination using the cleaner. Spray the surface and clean thoroughly with an absorbent cloth.

  2. Penetrant (Pack 2): Liberally spray the area with penetrant and allow 5 minutes contact time. For very fine cracks, allow up to 20 minutes.

  3. Cleaner (Pack 1): Wipe off excess penetrant with a lint-free cloth sprayed with cleaner.

  4. Developer (Pack 3): Spray a thin, even film of developer and leave on for at least 10 minutes before inspecting for fine flaws.

Discover flaws and cracks quickly and efficiently with the Spanjaard Flaw & Crack Detector System. Order yours today for reliable non-destructive testing of metal components.

Inspection
Good daylight or artificial illumination will show up any flaws as continuous red lines for cracks or pin points for porous parts. Picture below shows a test piece without defects (left) and test piece with defects (right).

Testing Principal
It is based upon capillary action, where low surface tension fluid (penetrant) penetrates into defected areas. Penetrant may be applied to the test piece by spraying or brushing. After adequate penetration time also called dwell time, the excess penetrant is cleaned carefully and a developer is applied. The developer helps to draw penetrant out of the flaw to reveal surface breaking flaws by bleed out of a colored dye.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Dye Penetrant Testing
Advantages:
- It can be used in almost all non porous material.
- It is simple and low cost for a single inspection.

Disadvantages:
- It is only suitable for surface detection.
- There is no informaiton about the depth of flaws can be gained.
- Rough surfaces are difficult to test.
